The details

What happens when
you lose every key.

Losing the only key to your car used to mean a tow to the dealership and days of waiting. A mobile automotive locksmith removes both steps: we come to the car, cut a new key blade on site, and program the transponder chip or fob so the engine actually starts. For most makes and models the whole job happens in your driveway, at your office, or on the shoulder of the road.

Transponders, fobs and push-to-start

Almost every car built since the late 1990s uses a transponder: a chip in the key that must be paired to the vehicle’s immobilizer before it will start the engine. Cutting a blade that turns the lock is only half the job; the programming is what makes it a working key. We handle both, including remotes and proximity fobs for push-to-start vehicles.

What to have ready when you call

The year, make and model of the vehicle, and ideally the VIN from the dashboard or an insurance card. Bring photo ID, since we verify ownership before making keys — it protects you as much as anyone.

Questions we hear a lot

Good to know

Can you make a car key if I lost all the originals?

Yes. We cut and program replacement keys on site for most makes and models, even when no original key exists. Having your VIN ready speeds things up.

Do you program key fobs and transponder keys?

Yes. Cutting the blade is only half of a modern car key; we also program the transponder chip or fob to your vehicle’s immobilizer so it starts the engine.

My key turns but the car will not start. Is that a locksmith problem?

Often, yes. A cloned or worn transponder, a failing fob battery, or a worn ignition cylinder can all cause it. We diagnose at your vehicle and fix what is actually broken.

Do I need to tow the car to a dealership?

No. The point of a mobile automotive locksmith is that the workshop comes to the vehicle: driveway, office parking lot or roadside.

What do you need from me?

Year, make and model, ideally the VIN, and photo ID so we can verify ownership before cutting keys.
